PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon is pleased to announce that Partner Mena Larmour and Litigation Paralegal Coordinator Kevin Aldridge are recipients of the firm’s 2022 Excellence in Mentorship award. In its second year, the Excellence in Mentorship Award is given annually to two individuals – one attorney and one business professional or paralegal – who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to outstanding mentoring and have made an appreciable difference in the lives of others at Stradley Ronon. Both winners will receive a trophy and a monetary prize to thank them for their mentorship achievements.
“What this award continues to demonstrate is the positive impact that effective mentorship can have in the workplace – when mentorship thrives, everyone can succeed,” said Michael D. O’Mara, partner and member of the firm’s board of directors. “The Stradley community is excited to recognize our 2022 mentorship champions, Mena and Kevin, both of whom are very deserving of this award.”
The Excellence in Mentorship Award was designed and implemented by the firm’s Talent Development & Mentorship Committee, which consists of lawyers and business professionals from across the firm to help drive Stradley Ronon’s talent development strategy. The committee considered the submitted nominees and made recommendations for this year’s winners. The award is designed to honor and recognize mentors who:
- act as leaders and trusted advisers
- support others in relationship building and serve as a career and professional growth advocate
- take the time to listen and understand the experiences, aspirations and concerns of others
- create formal and informal mentorship opportunities at any stage of a professional career
- offer flexible, empathetic and respectful assistance in helping others develop their own solutions
As an active member of Stradley Ronon’s investment management group since 2007, Larmour focuses her practice on counseling registered investment companies (including mutual funds, closed-end funds, interval funds and exchange-traded funds), independent trustees and investment advisers on a wide range of regulatory, corporate and transactional matters. Specifically, Larmour’s practice includes assisting clients with the development and launch of new funds and share classes, fund restructurings, reorganizations and mergers, regulatory and compliance matters relating to existing funds, fund governance issues and the applicability and interpretation of federal and state securities laws.
Nominators describe Larmour as the “first person associates and partners alike turn to for advice and guidance.” She was recognized as “an outstanding, once-in-a-generation mentor.” She was also noted as a fierce advocate who proactively supports associates throughout every stage of their careers and is a “role model for young women at the firm.”
For almost 10 years, Aldridge has supported the 70 lawyers and six paralegals across the firm’s robust litigation department and is also an active member of the firm’s Diversity Committee. In his role, Aldridge is responsible for legal research, case management, drafting and preparing documents, including depositions, briefs or motions for attorney use and other case preparations.
Aldridge’s colleagues characterize him as “someone who is always willing to devote time to helping you problem solve any issue, whether personal or professional.” He was also described as “a sounding board to work through complex or unusual situations.” In his role, Aldridge supports attorneys from beginning to end of matters, is responsible for case management as well as legal and factual research, drafting and preparing discovery documents and pleadings, reviewing documents and anything else needed.
