Kate Nemzek has built her practice around vigorously defending employers and international companies in employment, financial services and commercial disputes. Kate works closely with clients to understand their business needs, goals and objectives to provide practical and effective legal advice and litigation support in state and federal court and private arbitration.
Assisting clients across a wide array of industries, Kate provides employment advisory support and represents employers in disputes involving claims related to discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination and wage and hour issues, including class action and Private Attorneys General Act claims. Kate also works closely with financial services firms in litigation and enforcement actions. Kate routinely represents firms, banks and executives in proceedings involving unfair business practices, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, fraud, claims of unsuitability and other violations of federal and state securities laws. In her corporate defense work, Kate has also developed her trademark practice, including experience with filings and responding to infringement allegations.
Prior to beginning her legal career, Kate served as a judicial extern to U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Neil Bason of the Central District of California and U.S. District Judge Margaret Morrow of the Central District of California. During law school, Kate was a literary citation editor for the Pepperdine Law Review and chair of the Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law.
