Focusing on civil litigation, Teresa regularly represents clients in securities, employment, insurance, and privacy and data security matters. She is also designated by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) and Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E).
Teresa represents various financial services companies and registered investment advisers in court and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitration proceedings. She has experience defending violations of federal and state securities laws, claims of suitability, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, negligence and negligent supervision. Her experience includes assisting financial advisers with efforts to have information expunged from the advisers’ professional record on the Central Registration Depository system. Teresa also represents employers in arbitration and judicial proceedings regarding issues related to claims of discrimination, breach of contract, defamation, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, trade secret and non-solicitation. She also counsels clients regarding compliance with employment laws, rules and regulations at the local, state and federal levels.
In addition to her litigation practice, Teresa advises clients on compliance matters under both U.S. and international laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). She has experience analyzing and responding to data breaches, as well as preparing and updating privacy disclosures.
