PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon is pleased to announce that litigation attorneys and members of the firm’s Diversity Committee,
Cameron Redfern and
Brian Seaman, presented “Promoting Inclusivity for Queer Employees – A Guide for Management and Coworkers” to the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) of Greater Philadelphia on April 5. More than 130 employment law attorneys attended the presentation, and topics included a discussion on the key terminology used to describe the experiences of queer individuals, including sex, gender, gender identity and expression, the importance of the use of appropriate pronouns and how organizations can best promote this, and how to create a gender-neutral workplace. The ACC presentation served as a practical guide to help organizations develop and promote queer-inclusive policies and practices.
Redfern is an associate in the
litigation department and focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, representing corporate and institutional clients in a range of business litigation matters. Redfern’s litigation practice also includes researching and drafting legal memoranda and motions, interviewing witnesses, and attending conferences and hearings.
Seaman serves as counsel and the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer, leading the firm-wide
inclusion and equity initiatives. He regularly acts as a resource to the board of directors and other key members of firm leadership on diversity issues. He collaborates with firm clients to ensure the firm’s diversity initiatives are aligned with client inclusion goals. Seaman is also an integral part of the firm’s efforts to recruit, promote, retain diverse attorneys and helped redesign the firm’s hiring process to reduce bias. He continues his work outside of the firm, where he is heavily involved with organizations dedicated to equity and inclusion and is regularly sought out for his perspective on innovative approaches to diversity questions.
Stradley Ronon is committed to diversity for many reasons: because it provides a voice to the unique perspectives of all our attorneys; because it reflects the evolving face of the legal profession; and because it allows us to provide the highest-quality services to our clients, who are as diverse as we are. Most of all, though, Stradley is committed to diversity because we believe there is strength in the differences among our experiences and world views.
