John Hook and
Stephanie Sanderson-Braem served as panelists at Philadelphia Estate Planning Council’s roundtable program, “Avoiding the Many Pitfalls in Preparing Gift Tax Returns,” on Feb. 4. The program provided a comprehensive discussion of the issues, risks and problems in preparing gift tax returns in this upcoming filing season.
Hook, chair of Stradley Ronon’s
trust, estates and personal planning practice, provides
estate and tax planning advice to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, executives, entrepreneurs and owners of closely held businesses. His planning focuses on creating very significant estate tax savings for clients through the use and design of sophisticated estate planning and trust structures, including the use of dynasty trusts, rolling Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs), sales to intentional grantor trusts, and family limited partnerships. In addition, Hook’s planning for clients includes both asset protection planning (through the use of trusts and other assets protection vehicles) and
planned charitable giving, which includes the use of charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts,
private foundations, and gift annuities.
Sanderson-Braem represents individuals, families with young children, families preparing for retirement, families having a child with special needs, closely held business owners, doctors, CEOs, and fiduciaries managing all aspects of
trust and estate administration. She advises her clients on premarital agreements,
business succession planning, lifetime giving and charitable giving in addition to the preparation and implementation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives. In addition to her practice, Sanderson-Braem serves on the board of directors and is an officer of the board of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council, and serves on the board of directors and is an officer of the board of the Knights Education Foundation, Inc.
