PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon Partner
Samuel J. Arena, Jr. served as a panelist at the American Bar Association (ABA) Fidelity and Surety Law Committee Fall Meeting, “How to Handle the Fidelity Bond Claim.” Arena’s panel, “Handling the Employee Dishonesty and Theft Claim,” discussed the investigation of commercial crime policy claims involving the “employee dishonesty” and “theft” insuring agreements. The panel’s discussion also explored claim circumstances suggesting the accused fraudster is the “alter ego,” rather than an “employee,” of the insured, which also is the subject of the chapter Arena co-authored with his partner,
Joseph Kelleher, in the recently published ABA treatise Handling Fidelity Bond Claims, Third Edition.
Arena has concentrated his practice on insurance law, and fidelity and surety law, for more than 36 years. A leader in Stradley Ronon’s insurance practice group and the chair of the firm’s fidelity and surety practice group, he represents insurance companies in complex insurance coverage and fidelity and surety matters. Arena has extensive experience representing insurance companies in bad-faith and extra-contractual liability claims and litigation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel and an Adjunct Professor at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where he teaches Advanced Insurance Law: Coverage Disputes.
