Daniel M. Pereira and Mischa S. Wheat served as panelists at the “Cannabis and Insolvency” virtual program hosted by the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference on Sept. 9. The program included a summary of pertinent bankruptcy decisions addressing the cannabis industry and limitations on cannabis-related businesses seeking relief under the bankruptcy code. In addition, the panel discussed regulatory issues surrounding the cannabis industry as well as non-bankruptcy insolvency alternatives for distressed cannabis businesses.
Pereira concentrates his practice on
litigation and transactional matters with a focus on advising clients on commercial litigation, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights issues. He has experience in cross-border insolvency and restructuring proceedings. Pereira also has experience advising commercial lenders in loan enforcement matters, including workouts and foreclosures.
Wheat advises clients on various issues relating to corporate restructuring,
finance, and
bankruptcy. Wheat also represents various secured lenders in a variety of matters including troubled loan workouts, loan documentation, and collection matters.
