PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon
Attorney
Jennifer Gniady served as a panelist during The District of Columbia Bar program, “Estate and Tax Planning Series: Planning with Philanthropy - How to Discuss Charitable Giving with Your Clients,” on Jan. 28. The program prepared advisors to assist clients with charitable giving issues.
Gniady presented the session “Philanthropy: Choices of Form and Structure,” which covered donor choices in charitable planning, from donations to an existing nonprofit to the use of donor-advised funds and community foundations, as well more active undertakings creating new charities, foundations and trusts. Her presentation detailed the needs of new nonprofit organizations, including governance structures, tax-exempt compliance, and fiduciary obligations. The panel also provided tips on helping donors create meaningful gift strategies and what donors can expect from working with community foundations and the development offices of established nonprofit organizations.
