PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon Partner William T. Mandia co-presented with Ray Farmer, Director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance and President-Elect of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, at the 2019 NCOIL Spring Meeting on March 16 in Nashville, TN. Mandia and Farmer presented, “Update on SEC Best Interest Standard Proposal/State Fiduciary Laws,” which discussed the current status of the SEC’s proposed Regulation Best Interest and the NAIC’s revisions to its Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation #275. The presentation also addressed significant regulatory and legislative developments at the state level impacting the standard of care owed by insurers, producers, broker-dealers, and other professionals who sell annuities or life insurance products.
Mandia represents clients in complex commercial and class action litigation with a particular focus on the insurance and financial services industry. Mandia defends insurers and producers in connection with claims involving a wide range of life insurance and financial products, including claims for sales practices violations, producer misconduct, coverage determinations, bad faith, forgery, and policy lapse.
