PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon Partners Jan M. Folena and Ashley E. Shapiro presented an Internal Investigations CLE Session titled “Internal Investigations in the Face of a Regulatory Inquiry: Practical Advice for In-house Counsel and Compliance Departments” alongside Jaliya Faulkner, who serves as Principal and Deputy General Counsel at Vanguard where she leads the Litigation, Enforcement, and Investigation Teams and Alan Smith, who serves as Deputy General Counsel of Litigation and Regulatory Affairs at Janney Montgomery Scott.
The panel discussion took place in the firm’s Philadelphia office, where the panelists covered the changing landscape of regulatory investigations and cutting-edge issues facing corporate clients, financial services, firms and individuals.
Folena co-chairs the firm’s securities litigation and enforcement practice group and has over 20 years of federal government enforcement, investigation and litigation experience. She previously served as assistant chief litigation counsel for the Asset Management Unit of the SEC, where she appeared in federal courts across the nation as lead trial attorney, handling issues at the forefront of the securities and financial services industry.
Shapiro represents clients on white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations and corporate compliance matters. She has significant experience both at federal and state levels across many jurisdictions, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. She also handles civil litigation matters, including the defense of False Claims Act/qui tam actions.
