PHILADELPHIA — At the inception of the mutual fund industry, Stradley Ronon was directly involved in the creation of one of the first mutual funds in the United States. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the nation’s first mutual fund, Stradley Ronon hosted an event with the Investment Company Institute (ICI) and the Philadelphia Fund Alliance (PFA) on June 25 in the firm’s Philadelphia office.
During a panel discussion, Matthew DiClemente, co-chair of Stradley Ronon’s investment management practice, joined ICI President and CEO Eric Pan and John Alshefski, senior vice president and managing director of SEI’s Investment Manager Services division, to explore the political and regulatory pressures currently facing the asset management industry generally, and mutual funds specifically. The conversation was followed by a networking reception.
Stradley Ronon’s investment management practice has helped shape the industry for almost a century, advising investment advisers, public and private funds and fund sponsors, fund boards and trustees, service providers, insurance companies and other industry participants.
The ICI is the leading association representing registered investment funds. PFA is a group of Philadelphia-based asset management industry professionals formed to hold an annual fundraiser to benefit charities in the Greater Philadelphia area.
