PHILADELPHIA – Stradley Ronon is pleased to announce that Counsel Walter J. Buzzetta and Associate Adam M. Kaplan presented “Understanding the FCRA and FACT Act in Collections,” a webinar offered by Lorman Educational Services on Nov. 17. In their presentation, Buzzetta and Kaplan covered the evolving regulatory landscape for companies involved in credit reporting, as well as recent developments in credit reporting litigation. They discussed regulated conduct, the practical implications on regulated entities, best practices and procedures to ensure compliance. They also highlighted litigation risks and potential defenses, as well as interaction with state law.
Buzzetta concentrates his practice on consumer lending and financial services litigation, with a primary focus on claims against financial services companies, including claims under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), FCRA, Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), as well as class action, civil RICO, deceptive trade practices, fraud and antitrust challenges. He is experienced in counseling financial services companies on strategic planning, risk assessment, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution. Buzzetta also represents clients in resolving contested lien priorities, chain of title issues and title insurance disputes.
Kaplan concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation with a focus on consumer lending and financial services. For more than a decade, Kaplan has represented financial institutions in matters related to consumer and commercial financial products. He is experienced in defending claims under the FDCPA, Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, FCRA and Equal Credit Opportunity Act, as well as various state unfair and deceptive trade practices laws. Kaplan also has extensive experience with title and foreclosure litigation.
